PURPOSE: To aid the International Network of Street Papers (INSP) in supporting its street papers around the world by translating quality editorial content for its online news service. The news service helps street papers to publish important global news relating to poverty and social justice and provide meaningful work for homeless people. We are looking for volunteers with strong language skills to produce high quality article translations for this service as well as (occasionally) other more general translation requirements such as website development, international communication, etc. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Dependable individuals with strong language skills with the capacity to produce publishable article translations from English>German for the INSP network. We welcome applicants able to translate between other languages as well. Please email us to check [email protected] TIME COMMITMENT: The work load averages around 2 or 3 articles per month, depending on the amount of articles we receive. Translators can accept or reject each request individually. INSP staff members correspond with translation volunteers mainly via email. BENEFITS: Translations are conducted on an unpaid, voluntary basis. INSP is happy to provide volunteers with references, and volunteers will be credited in print for all published translations. Volunteer translators provide an invaluable service by encouraging exchange, collaboration and capacity-building among street papers around the world.
